4 years ago we started a tradition of going to the mountains of Virginia for the New Year holiday. It’s always been a nice retreat after the hustle and bustle of Christmas, holiday parties, hosting, and birthday parties. The mountains have very limited internet, only one tv in the house, and it really gives us sense of peacefulness. We burn fires morning, noon, and night and we cook. A lot. Food we probably wouldn’t on a typical day at home, like bacon every-single-day and biscuits and gravy with country sausage and homemade pizza’s. It’s a lot of time to do nothing but eat, which worked out in my favor this year.
